2015 fashion week rained over the city in a brilliant mess. The time had come for designers to send their heart and soul down a runway. Hoping to get praised for their innovative new looks and on trend collections. Balancing being crazy enough to stand out but not too crazy to cause a fashion faux pas is a considerable challenge. The week is over, but the runway shows live on, and ones that keep living in my dreams are Rebecca Minkoff and Calvin Klein, wearable ready to wear at its best.

REBECCA MINKOFF:

Rebecca Minkoff is an industry leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel. Her first designed handbag the “Morning After Bag” was what ignited her career. Minoff kept to handbags for four years and then in 2009 decided to launch her first read-to-wear collection. Today Rebecca Minkoff has become a global lifestyle brand offering everything from accessories, handbags, apparel and footwear.

RUNWAY SHOW:

Rebecca Minkoff kept things sleek and clean with a simple white background and runway, spicing things up musically with a live band. The inspiration behind her collection was Marianne Faithfull, whom Minkoff described for her sweetness and her rebelliousness which was clearly expressed. The show started off angelic with a palette of whites and creams throwing some prints in here and there. Then turned things up and darker with blacks when the rebelliousness came out. She sent down an all leather jump suit that caused a few extra heads to turn. Rebecca spiced up this collection from what she normally does by adding in edgy leather ensembles and metal accents. I loved each and every piece, envisioning how the looks would work in my closet. Rebecca Minkoff knows how to dress the every day women and for that she was one of my favorites.

CALVIN KLEIN:

Calvin Klein started his career in 1968 originally being known for suits and coats. He then grew his empire into a full line of women and menswear. The company now manufactures a wide range of items including apparel, jewelry, watches, cosmetics, and home goods. In recent years Calvin Klein sold his beloved business to Phillips–Van Heusenand who was the mastermind behind this years runway collection.

RUNWAY SHOW:

Calvin Klein kept the runway show atmosphere simple and let the collection do all the talking. His line was sexy and full of luxurious slip dresses and other silk pieces. His palette started off in creams, whites and tans and then moved on to bolder blacks and printed pieces. Blurred floral prints filled the runway being printed on pants, blouses and jackets. Calvin Klein’s collection was full of dreamy jackets that pulled looks together. Calvin Klein was able to create a collection that could be worn on the red carpet and the streets and for that I picked him as a favorite.
