The Kent State fashion schools magazine Vignette is coming out with their volume two for this years Spring 2016. I was assigned as the magazine’s Art/Design Director. I was very pleased with my role and excited to take on the duties of coming up with the magazines theme, assisting with the editorial spread, and any other creative aspect the magazine needed. This role allowed me to really tap into my creative side. I worked closely with the other design and creative directors and together we were able to envision what Vignette should look like and how the editorial pictures should play off that theme. We all picked out the feel of the magazine meaning what colors are going to be prominent, the trends that are cohesive with the magazine’s theme and put together a photo shoot that embraces and pulls everything together. This assignment felt more like a hobby then classwork; I really enjoyed putting together the creative side to a magazine. Being the Art/Design director was the perfect role for me and really allowed me to embrace my creative side. This experience will help me significantly down the road. It has taught me I am able to work well with a team and can come up with a concept and follow through and put it together. I also have something new to add to my portfolio and will be able to show my visual design skills off in future interviews. Overall working on this magazine was a really wonderful experience.
